NEW YORK, U.S.: The New York University College of Dentistry (NYU Dentistry) has received funding and in-kind support from Straumann Group North America, a global leader in tooth replacement and orthodontic solutions, in order to make dental implants more accessible for patients in need and to foster and enhance student education at NYU Dentistry.
“This donation directly supports NYU College of Dentistry’s mission to provide affordable, high-quality dental care to our patients, and we are grateful to Straumann for its generosity,” said Dr. Charles N. Bertolami, Herman Robert Fox Dean of NYU Dentistry. “In addition, NYU has the largest dental implant training program in the country, so having access to materials and increased opportunities for our pre- and postdoctoral students to learn about implant dentistry is critical.”
The investment from Straumann Group North America includes donation of products to NYU Dentistry’s clinics, which will subsidize implant treatment for patients in need, and other funding to support NYU Dentistry’s newly launched Patient Care Access Fund, created to reduce financial barriers for patients who would otherwise not be able to receive dental implants as part of their treatment plans.
“We are proud to invest in the education of NYU dental students and the community of patients they serve, and believe this will have a true and lasting impact on underserved populations,” said Robert Woolley, executive vice president and head of Straumann Group North America. “This important initiative aligns with our global mission to restore smiles and confidence,” he added.
“Dental implants are an important restoration option for patients, but cost can be a barrier. Through our new Patient Care Access Fund, as well as materials donated by Straumann Group North America, we can bring healthy, complete smiles to many patients who previously would not have considered dental implants,” said Dr. Robert Glickman, associate dean for clinical affairs and hospital relations, and chair and professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at NYU Dentistry.
